Data Quality Assessment
“You cannot manage what you do not measure” is a well-known statement, and it is equally true for data quality. Without established metrics, it will forever remain a nebulous, subjective and unquantifiable issue, making it difficult to do anything at all.
During this engagement,
InfoBlueprint will perform a HealthCheck on your data and quantify your data quality, at the same time developing a “system of measurement” for data and information quality for your organisation, so that progress can be tracked using agreed metrics that work.
This provides a means for consistent measurement and management of data quality, leading to sustained high quality data, as well as demonstrating and correlating the ‘cause and effect’ link between data non-quality and business impact.
This is the customer’s opportunity to:
- Obtain new insight into the size and existence of DQ issues (known and unknown)
- Understand the links between DQ issues and real life business impacts and costs
- Identify cause and effect situations,
- Establish a common baseline and “language of data quality” for everyone to work from.
- Justify further investment in the programme by proving positive ROI
We have two services which achieve this goal:

The
InfoBlueprint Data Quality Assessment
The InfoBlueprint Data Quality Assessment objectively measures the quality of data at the IT level (in databases), to identify and quantify a range of data quality issues, which may be present.
The Data Quality Assessment:
- Quantifies the extent and potential business impact of any data quality issues.
- Provides a comprehensive and objective Data Quality Report.
- Delivers an Action Plan showing how each identified quality issue can be addressed, the investment required and the benefits which can be realized.

The
InfoBlueprint Information Quality Assessment
The InfoBlueprint Information Quality Assessment analyses and quantifies the quality of the information made available to knowledge workers via Reports, Queries, Dashboards and all other forms of business information, and also analyses how this information is interpreted and acted upon in order to identify further opportunities for improvement.
The Information Quality Assessment:
- Exposes and quantifies a range of business risks related to information quality.
- Provides a proposed Action Plan for reducing these risks and improving the way your organization uses information.
- Assists you in prioritizing any improvement actions by relating the value of the improvement to the investment required to deliver it.

Combined, these Assessments tell you where your problems are within your data, processes and systems, and also identify interpretation issues among the people that are creating and using business information derived from this data. Subsequent to the Assessment, InfoBlueprint can assist you in implementing the proposed Action Plan, using our Data Quality Improvement Blueprint methodology for a structured Quality Improvement Programme.
